The economy in Cyprus is benefiting from an increase in the number of foreign arrivals on the island, according to new statistics.
Official figures showed that the country saw a 6.4 per cent increase in visitor numbers during the 12 months to September this year.
The data, which was cited by the Financial Mirror, suggests that owners of rental accommodation in Cyprus could be benefiting from the surge in tourism, since demand is higher than in 2006.
This could potentially serve to enhance the appeal of the island among prospective buyers of overseas property.
Figures also showed some of the other benefits created by the growth in the tourist market, such as an increase the amount of money spent by visitors.
The overall amount of travel expenditure was found to have risen by 9.3 per cent to £188 million.
This comes shortly after Gulf Weekly stated that the strong tourist trade in Cyprus was one of the main factors behind its popularity with overseas property investors. |
