The number of international holidaymakers visiting Cyprus could increase in the next few years, according to new estimates.
Officials at the Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) confirmed that plans to boost the number of foreign arrivals during 2008 were being put into effect, reports Travel and Tourism News.
If these are successful, next year's visitor numbers could be about ten per cent higher than those recorded in 2007.
According to the CTO, the island's close proximity to other European countries is one of the main reasons for its popularity, along with its variety of tourist attractions.
Meanwhile, foreign currency exchange firm Travelex has warned Britons to prepare for Cyprus' forthcoming accession to the euro.
The company stated that almost three-quarters of people from the UK did not know that it was entering the single currency next month.
Regular visitors have been advised to either use up or exchange their leftover currency before it ceases to be legal tender. |
